Chef’s Bio
The celebrated culinary talents of Chef Robb Taylor are reflected in his striking and innovative seasonal American/French inspired cuisine. A New England native, Chef Taylor grew up in Montpelier, Vermont and attended Johnson & Wales University for Culinary Arts in Providence, Rhode Island. After honing his skills in the classroom, he moved to Boston Massachusetts for six years of concentrated training with some of Boston's top chefs and restaurants. His years of guidance and preparation under a James Beard, award-winning chef Micheal Scholow of Radius, celebrity chef Stan Frankenthaler of Salamander, and chef Scott Hebert of Troquet imparted on him invaluable culinary lessons showcased today in his inspired cuisine.
Following his time in Boston, he returned to the Upper Valley to open Grenache, an upscale French bistro in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where he served as Executive Chef, followed by a one year stint at Realaux & Chateau property Home Hill Inn - a formal French restaurant in Plainfield, New Hampshire. The following year he was invited to open the Canoe Club as Executive Chef, where his years of culinary training and expertise helped to establish a name for himself in the Upper Valley, showcasing eclectic American fare, located in the heart of Hanover, New Hampshire.
After two and a half years Chef Taylor moved on to open his own French Style Bistro in Camden Maine, Bouchee Bistro – the realization of a life-long dream of his and life partner Ami. Deciding to follow their hearts back to the Upper Valley, they sold Bouchee Bistro one and a half years later, at which time Chef Taylor dedicated his gifted talents to serve as a chef/consultant and helped launch a new concept restaurant named Elixir. This eclectic lounge featured small plates, satays, tapas, and a swanky martini list, with live local musicians playing nightly. Following an extremely successful launch, Chef Taylor cultivated his love of American/French inspired cuisine and moved forward to become the Executive Chef of the highly acclaimed Jackson House Inn & Restaurant.
At the Jackson House Inn & Restaurant, Chef Taylor pursues his culinary perfection and showcases an unbridled passion for what he does. The summation of all that he has learned over the years, and his love for the local farmers and natural, organic ingredients, are reflected in his uniquely innovative, cutting-edge seasonal American/French inspired cuisine.
